Mohanam Cultural Centre is the work and realisation of a group of young men from the surrounding villages of Auroville, the universal city located near Pudhucherry. Young Tamil men who work in Auroville, from different villages created the heritage centre to be a bridge between the traditional and the modern, the old and the young, between what is happening in Auroville and what is unfolding in the villages around. Why was it established? With globalisation and the whole world adopting slowly to global culture, the cultural diversity is under threat. Mohanam Cultural Centre brings the rich arts of Tamil Nadu back to the villages and the world through its courses, programs, activities and performances. The heritage centre provides a place for villagers and Aurovillians to share in their expression of the divine, and to be a real bridge between the past and the future. Aurovillians and local people with knowledge and skills come to share hatha yoga, traditional healing, meditation, ecological harmony, health awareness and much more, with people who wish to come and learn. Where is Mohanam Cultural Centre located? The Centre is located in Sanjeevi Nagar village of Pudhucherry Union territory in India. It is near Auroville, the Universal city devoted to an experiment in human unity. Mohanam Cultural Centre
